Gemini connection options
Choose a connection path for the Gemini tool you use. Gomind provides a remote MCP server and an API; access through Gemini depends on the app, account, and supported authentication flow.
These options follow Google's documented MCP support. The complete Gemini-to-Gomind sign-in and memory workflow has not been validated for this guide. Confirm the connection with a test fact before using project information.
Gemini Apps
Google currently limits custom connected apps to personal accounts for adults in the US, in English, with Keep Activity enabled. Work and school accounts are not eligible. Check the current requirements from Google before setup.
In the Gemini web app, open Settings → Connected Apps → Custom apps → Add a custom app. In some accounts, Connected Apps is under Personal Intelligence. Enter the MCP URL and follow the sign-in flow:
If the custom-app option is missing, check eligibility rather than entering the URL into an ordinary chat. If connection succeeds, select the app with @ in your prompt. Google requires confirmation for write actions.
Gemini CLI
Gemini CLI documents remote Streamable HTTP and OAuth support. Merge this entry into mcpServers in your ~/.gemini/settings.json, preserving existing settings:
{
"mcpServers": {
"gomind": {
"httpUrl": "https://mcp.gominddb.com"
}
}
}
Start Gemini CLI and use /mcp to inspect the connection. If authentication is needed, run /mcp auth gomind and follow the browser flow. On Gomind's approval page, choose the intended organization and permissions. Collection access follows your permissions, not a collection chosen here. Keep tool confirmations enabled.
See the official Gemini CLI MCP guide for configuration and authentication troubleshooting.
Verify shared memory
After a successful connection, try this synthetic fact in a test collection where you have write access:
Use Gomind to remember that the fictional project Connection Test uses the color green.
In a new conversation connected to the same collection, ask:
Look in Gomind: what color does the fictional project Connection Test use?
Check the Gomind tool result, not just the model's answer. Both connections need access to the same organization and collection.
Your own Gemini application
Connect your application to Gomind using MCP, the SDKs, or the REST quickstart. Your integration is responsible for invoking memory tools and supplying their results to the model.
